Land Management and Stewardship Notice, December 2025
Forest Restoration Project UPDATE December 3, 2025
Over the next two weeks contractors will be back in the North Country of The Walthour-Moss Foundation to complete a forest stewardship project. Work is scheduled to begin on the morning of December 4.
This project is a part of our current Forest Stewardship Plan and includes the removal of pre-selected and operator selected longleaf, loblolly, and slash pine trees from +/-50 acres of the Foundation located in the North Country (Magnolia Hill side) between Aiken Road and Firestone Lake. The portions closest to Pine Ridge and Causey Road were completed earlier in the year. Thinning these pines will allow light to reach the forest floor and will provide room for the remaining longleaf pine to grow.
We respectfully request that you avoid the area during times when work is in progress. Please do not walk, ride or drive a carriage in the project area until the project is complete. Please be aware that while work is being completed, there will be increased truck traffic on the trails leading to and from those areas.
A map with the approximate areas shaded in red is below.
